I am so thankful you decided to stop by. I am Brittney and as you can see this is the place where I ponder. As a long time radio host I am used to cutting to the chase but here you and I can slowly sip a cup of coffee and leisurely think out loud. Together we can share inspiration, ponder justice, research stuff from the Bible that doesn’t seem to make sense, and simply let down our guards.
The vision for Faith Reboot actually came about as I celebrated my 40th birthday. You can read more about it at 40@40: Reflections on the First 40 Years. I didn’t “hit” 40, I actually rather did the “running man” right into it! It dawned on me for the first time that I literally have half of my life to be myself. I am old enough to make my own choices yet hopefully wise enough to finally see where my priorities have slipped and regroup, for God’s glory. It is a fresh start. So here I am with a clean slate asking God to reboot my life and faith.
For my final 40 years I want to live bravely with passion, pursuing loving God more than simply being the good girl. I do have a pretty stellar good girl story. I grew up in picturesque rural Iowa with a wonderful set of loving parents. Church was a huge part of my upbringing. My family joined a start-up church that met in an elementary school and I eventually married in that same church 17 years later (with the same pastor!) My husband Andrew and I met at Trinity International University in suburban Chicago. Ironically we both made commitments to Christ at the age of five. I don’t have a rebel story- unless it would be getting my wild child moment of getting my ears triple pierced in college. That is good in that I am thankful the Lord protected me from foolish lifestyle choices. At the same time I must admit I have always wondered if God would love me- even if… That’s something I am working through now. I am learning rigid rule keeping can keep me from His love.
Growing up I was known as a “born performer” who would sing and dance to the jukebox at the pizza joint as a preschooler. As an only child I spent plenty of time with my parents and their friends. I often found it more comfortable to talk with adults than her peers- discussing things like church issues and politics. These days I take that performance behind the scenes via Christian radio. I have served as on-air host for Christian radio stations in the Midwest and along the East Coast since reading my first a cue card live on the air in back in 1997. My husband Andrew and I have two children, Lindsey and Micah, and live near Raleigh, North Carolina.
